Hello!
We are Liza and Charlie, and we want to thank you for taking the time to learn more about us, our family, and the life we hope to offer your child, should you choose us to parent your precious baby. We love children, have always dreamed about being parents, and are so excited to have the opportunity to devote our lives to a child.
We recognize that you have a life changing decision to make, and we want you to know how grateful we are to be considered as adoptive parents of your child. We know that you love your baby and are considering a very selfless choice. It’s your bravery that gives us an opportunity to build a family which we appreciate more than words could ever express. We really hope this book gives you a glimpse into our lives and our values to help you make this important decision. We are so excited to meet you and get to know you too.

About Us – How we met
We met in New York City, shortly after graduating college at a party hosted by Liza’s co-worker Geoffrey and Charlie’s college friend. We connected over living in New York City and working in investment banking, and soon found ourselves looking for excuses to run into each other. We began to date and have been happily together ever since. As Charlie was getting ready to move to California to begin his graduate school program, he proposed, and Liza whole-heartedly accepted. After a year of long-distance, we finally got married.
Over the past 8 years we have a built a life together that celebrates both the big things and the small ones, and ultimately, we treat each other with love and respect, and we cannot wait to expand our family.

A little about Liza
Liza loves children and has always dreamed about being a mother. She has one younger brother Nash and her parents Amanda and Adam have been married for 37 years. We are extremely close and have daily family face-time sessions despite the time difference.
Liza loves to plan trips and activities to do on the weekends. She always has a list of places she wants to go to or restaurants to try. She also loves to make their home a warm and inviting space for friends and family. She loves to experiment with different types of recipes and is so excited to prepare special meals for a little one. Liza loves to entertain whether it’s a BBQ or having friends over for coffee.

Liza moved to the States in 2006 to attend New York University and after graduating stayed in NYC for her first job. Liza loves living in the United States and never plans to leave.
Liza loves to read and write, to go on hikes followed by a trip to the local bakery for baked goods and spending time with her family and friends. She looks forward to sharing her love of reading and delicious treats with a little one! She loves to cook and host dinners and BBQs in our summer house. Liza is also a planner and a list-keeper always filling her notebooks with fun things to do, ideas for a vacation or even tasks she needs to accomplish around the house.

A little about Charlie
Charlie grew up in a close-knit community in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has an older sister Betsy and a younger brother Patrick – and is an uncle to 4 nieces and 4 nephews. Charlie attended Colgate University and moved to NYC for his first job which is also where he met Liza. Charlie also went onto Stanford for a graduate degree in business.
Charlie leads a very active lifestyle – he enjoys exercising, playing golf, swimming, and going for walks. He is also an avid sports fan and enjoys attending live sporting events with friends and family.

Charlie is so excited about the idea of sharing all of these activities that he loves with a child as they grow. Additionally, he enjoys reading both fiction and non-fiction books, with a recent focus on historical non-fiction. He is already looking for books to read to a little one. Finally, Charlie enjoys grilling and cooking at home with Liza and just imagines having a child to enjoy cooking with.
Charlie’s fondest memories from childhood revolve around his family and close-knit community. Charlie lived in the same house for the first 18 years of his life with his parents (married for nearly 40 years) and his brother and sister. The family enjoyed taking trips (annual 16-hour drive to South Carolina every year!), attending each other’s sporting events, and eating dinner together every night to catch up on each other’s days.

We love to spend time at the house and there is so much space to run and play games in the backyard. Charlie loves to practice his golf swing in the backyard or play corn-hole.

Our lives now
Our home in New York City is in a historic safe neighborhood that is very close to Washington Square Park – home of the famous Washington Square Arch. It’s a beautiful and wonderful place to raise a family. There is a children’s playground with swings where there are always kids playing, there is also a little dog park. We often stroll through the park on evenings and weekends.
Our home is very spacious, and we own a second home by the beach. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking together and in the living room chatting with each other and watching tv. We try to make the most of each and every day, whether it’s an active day out or doing things at home. We love to walk and explore different neighborhoods in the city. We both love coffee and on weekends love exploring new coffee shops. All that’s missing from our lives is a child to share these pleasures with.

We also have a pool at our house, which is very safe and secured by a fence
On weekends and in the summer, we go to our house close to the beach. We love spending time at this house, cooking, hosting friends and family, going to the beach or reading by the pool. There is plenty of space for children to run around and play games. We love doing projects around the house and making every corner special.
We have a huge backyard and lots of space for children to run around. Charlie loves to grill and we sit out and eat with our friends and family.

Holiday Celebrations
Charlie and Liza grew up in different countries celebrating similar but also different holidays and in the life they have built they try to bring together their traditions. We have created a very open household where not only respect each other’s cultures and values, but also try to learn about them. We celebrate Christmas with Charlie’s Family including his parents, siblings and nieces and nephews. We decorate the tree together and cook a big Christmas Eve Meal or sometimes get dressed up and go out for evening. Christmas morning is when we open presents and there is so much fun and chaos going on. Usually, each family member gets assigned who they buy a present for, but we all end up getting gifts for each other. We hope to create our own traditions with a child such as filling stockings, baking cookies, playing out in the snow and having the entire family together.

Like Charlie, Liza also has a big family and lots of cousins with lots of nieces and nephews. We have a tradition of taking pictures on these stairs in my family home every time we are together.

All types of holidays whether its 4th of July or Thanksgiving are celebrated surrounded with family.
Liza also especially loves to celebrate birthdays, whether it’s her own or Charlie’s – birthday cake is a must in our household. There is a bakery in New York City called the Milk Bar where we often buy cakes, but we are also working on our baking skills and hope to do this as a family activity. Maybe we can have cake decorating competitions.

We love being together
Charlie works in finance and Liza works in marketing for an eyewear company and we both can work from home which gives us both the opportunity to be around a little one as much as possible.
Together Charlie and Liza love to see and experience new places, people and foods. We love to travel whether for vacation or to see family members. We also love to spend time with our friends in New York City where we will go to exercise classes, new restaurants or just go on a long walk. Lots of our friends have children – so there are lots of birthday parties and other activities that we do as a group. We feel it’s important to have a strong support system and our friends have now also become like family as we have seen so many of them go through major life milestones.

What Liza thinks of Charlie
Charlie is my partner in life and everything else. He is extremely smart, curious, kind and caring – all attributes that would make him a wonderful dad. Our relationship is built on mutual respect and trust – anytime I doubt myself he is always there to support me and to help me work through any problems. We try to approach everything as a team and I feel very fortunate to have Charlie in my life. I just know your child will be able to confide in Charlie and get the very best advice on any issues.

Liza and Charlie also have a tradition of going to a football game in the Fall

Liza and Charlie are both very close with their families. We’ve always dreamed about devoting our lives to a child.
What Charlie thinks of Liza
Liza is an incredibly kind and caring individual who is very close with her family and friends. She is very focused on building deep and authentic relationships with those around her, and places a significant emphasis on her family – including speaking with her immediate family every day (and sometimes multiple times!). She is also very curious and intelligent – she is an avid reader and writer. Your child will be able to depend on her to be there through the good times as well as the tough times that any child experiences. Your child will always feel her strength and kindness.

Friends and Families
We both have supportive families that are eagerly awaiting an addition to the family. They tell us all the time that they feel that we will make great parents.
Charlie's parents (Chuck and Julie) live in Michigan as well as his brother Patrick and wife Ashley – along with their two young daughters. We visit them in the summertime at the lake where we go swimming, go for boat rides and have lots of bbq’s. They also come visit us in New York. The children (Ellie and Chelsea) are so excited about the idea of having a cousin to share these activities with.

Charlie’s Sister, Betsy and brother-in-law Ryan have 6 children, and they live in St Louis. We try to get together as often as we can so that we can see the little ones growing up. Chad is the eldest who is now 10, and there are Luke, Frankie, Claire, Rosie and Teddy. They have a busy house specially on Christmas mornings when we share presents with the kids.
Liza’s parents (Amanda and Adam) can’t wait for Liza’s parents to welcome a grandchild into the world. Liza’s family also loves coming to New York to visit and spend time with her. We love to sit around the dining table and catch up.

What is important to us
We have always dreamed about being parents and having a child to raise in a loving household. We both come from large families where there are lots of uncles, aunts and cousins and this is the environment into which we hope to bring a child. There is much we will learn about being parents but what we can promise is that we will do everything with as much love, support and care possible. What is important to us is to create a home that celebrates each family member, that nurtures and supports each other and ultimately loves each other. Even today our house is filled with laughter, good food, music, books and we hope to be able to include a child in this world of ours.
